Islamofascism in America?

I recently received an email trying to stir up fear about "Islamofascism" in America. It spoke of the apathy in Germany during Hitler's rise to power, the resulting danger, and it then tried to draw a parallel to the rise of Islam today. There was further talk of Islamic "fanatics who threaten our way of life", and "50 shooting wars world-wide", all in an attempt to justify our belligerent national behavior.

Here's the big difference I see between the "apathy and danger" described in that email and the actual situation in America today:

I see no rising "Islamic leader" coming to power IN America... the only fascist leaders I see here are GW Bush and his cronies.

The apathy I see in the American population is not a lack of concern over the possible danger of "islamofascism" but a very dreadful lack of care about the devastating effects of unbridled illegal immigration, un-American treaties destroying our national sovereignty, the Patriot Act and the Military Commissions Act that have destroyed habeus corpus and our liberty, draconian measures making it a major production to get on an airplane, presidential
violation of the law by reading our email and tapping our phones, and etc., etc.

We have a "president" who, when asked if a particular bill was constitutional, said "How would I know that?"

Where is the outrage?

As Americans we should respect our constitution, and hold our elected leaders to their oath of office to support it. One of the best pieces I have read in recent months about the founding document is this:

The "fanatics who threaten our way of life" are not the ones in Iraq or Iran; they are the ones in Washington DC, and they are responsible for the increasingly oppressive straight jacket of spending on foreign wars, taxation, regulation, and federal micro-meddling that are all fundamentally destructive of our American way of life. They are the ones who use the mantra of "terror, terror, terror, 9-11, terror" to incite entirely disproportionate fears and to mask their relentless advancement of oppressive government power.

"It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide."

Yes, Bush and the fanatic neo-cons who sent our troops into Iraq under now admittedly false pretenses! And the article that I am responding to (below my signature) is creating a logically false comparison between the rise of Nazi Germany and the supposed threat of Islam in America. The REAL parallel is the explosion of the federal government into a tyrannically oppressive leviathan. Where is "the peaceful majority" in America to demand that we stop imposing OUR "democratic ideals" on Iraq at the cost of trillions of dollars and many, many thousands of lives?

I am not afraid of the islamofascists across the ocean; I am very afraid of the meddling federalists in Washington telling me at every turn what I can and cannot do. That is one of the reasons why I promote http://downsizedc.org and why I am bending every effort to support Ron Paul's run for president with my words and dollars.
